AND GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE.

IT'S MY PLEASURE TO UPDATE THE COMMUNITY AND THE BOARD WITH SOME OF THE AMAZING THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN GOING ON IN CISD OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS.

I WANT TO BEGIN WITH OUR COMMUNITY TAILGATE.

COLLECTIVE ENGAGEMENT IS ONE OF OUR CORE VALUES, AS MANY OF YOU KNOW, AND THIS EVENT COMPLETELY ALIGNS AND REFLECTS SO MUCH OF WHAT THAT VALUE IS ALL ABOUT.

WE HELD OUR COMMUNITY TAILGATE ON FEBRUARY THE 27TH, AND AS MANY OF YOU KNOW, THE WEATHER WAS PREDICTED TO GET A LITTLE INTENSE.

AND SO WE BUMPED UP THE FOOTBALL GAME EARLY.

AND SO THAT CAUSED EVERYBODY TO BUMP EVERYTHING UP EARLY, INCLUDING OUR COMMUNITY TAILGATE.

BUT I DO WANT TO THANK OUR COMMUNICATIONS TEAM FOR BEING SO NIMBLE AND FLEXIBLE, AS THEY WERE ABLE TO QUICKLY PIVOT THE LOCATION FROM THE FIELD HOUSE TO INSIDE THE COMMONS. SO THANK YOU TO THE TEAM AND ALSO TO PRINCIPAL LAURA SPRINGER FOR WORKING SO CLOSELY WITH THE TEAM TO HELP COME UP WITH A GREAT SOLUTION FOR THIS EVENT.

WE HAD WELL OVER 500 MEALS THAT WERE SOLD AND LOTS OF PARTICIPANTS.

WE HAD OVER 20 DIFFERENT COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND BUSINESS PARTNERS THERE THAT SPONSORED VARIOUS BOOTHS.

IT WAS REALLY A LOT OF FUN, AND IT'S A TRADITION WE'VE HAD FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS, AND I THINK WE MAY HAVE FOUND OUR NEW HOME.

HAVING IT INSIDE THE BUILDING WAS KIND OF A PLUS.

SO THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO CAME OUT TO SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY TAILGATE.

AND AGAIN, THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNICATIONS TEAM FOR PUTTING IT ALL ON.

ALSO, ALONG THE SAME LINES OF COLLECTIVE ENGAGEMENT, I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT WHAT'S GOING ON IN OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION AND EMERGENT BILINGUAL AREAS.

WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE SOME INCREDIBLE FAMILIES IN BOTH SPECIAL EDUCATION AND THOSE FAMILIES THAT ARE THAT DO HAVE CHILDREN THAT ARE RECEIVING SERVICES AS EMERGENT BILINGUAL LEARNERS.

OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT HOSTS A COFFEE AND CONNECTION EVENT SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER.

IT ALLOWS OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION FAMILIES TO NOT ONLY CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER, BUT ALSO TO CONNECT WITH OUR STAFF.

IT GIVES THEM AN ABILITY TO NETWORK, PROBLEM SOLVE, SHARE IDEAS.

THOSE ARE SPECIAL SHOES THAT PEOPLE WALK IN.

AND SO TO BE ABLE TO FIND SOMEONE THAT WALKS IN SIMILAR SHOES AS YOU, I THINK IS A REALLY NICE TREAT.

IN ADDITION TO OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION TEAM HOSTING THIS EVENT, THEY ALSO HAVE VARIOUS INFORMATION SESSIONS AND SUPER INVOLVED WITH VARIOUS SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS SO THAT FAMILIES CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT SERVICES THAT ARE AVAILABLE NOT ONLY IN CISD, BUT ALSO BEYOND AND BEYOND CISD AND FOR OUR EMERGENT BILINGUAL FAMILIES.

CISD HOSTS AN ANNUAL BUS TOUR FOR NEWCOMERS TO CISD TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE DISTRICT AND THE COMMUNITY, AND IN ADDITION, WE OFFER FREE ENGLISH CLASSES AT COPPELL MIDDLE SCHOOL EAST ON TUESDAY AND COPPELL MIDDLE SCHOOL, I'M SORRY, IN WILSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON THURSDAY, AND THAT'S OPEN TO ANYBODY THAT WOULD LIKE TO BRUSH UP ON THEIR ENGLISH SKILLS, BUT THE BUS TOUR WAS A REAL TREAT.

THEY CAME HERE AND TALKED TO ME FOR A LITTLE BIT.

I GOT TO MEET SOME GREAT FAMILIES.

OUR APPARENT LIAISONS ON OUR CAMPUSES WORKED VERY CLOSELY TO HELP MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF OUR FAMILIES FEEL CONNECTED AND A PART OF THE CISD FAMILY, AND HIGHLIGHT OUR CORE VALUE OF OF ENGAGEMENT.

OUR NEXT CORE VALUE THAT WE WANT TO SHOWCASE IS GREAT TEACHING, AND I THINK OF NO BETTER WAY TO SHOWCASE THAT THAN OUR FIRST GRADING PERIOD.

CISD SUPER TEACHERS.

THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE ALL POSTED ON THE SCREEN IN FRONT OF YOU.

THEY REPRESENT BOTH ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOL.

THEY ARE OUTSTANDING MEN AND WOMEN THAT GO ABOVE AND BEYOND EACH AND EVERY DAY TO FOCUS ON ALL OF OUR CORE VALUES IN CISD, BUT ESPECIALLY HIGHLIGHTING GREAT TEACHING.

I WANT TO GIVE A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR SUPER TEACHERS PROGRAM SPONSOR, RBFCU CREDIT UNION FOR HELPING TO MAKE THIS RECOGNITION SO POSSIBLE. HELPING TO MAKE THIS RECOGNITION POSSIBLE AND SO MEANINGFUL TO ALL OF OUR SUPER TEACHERS.

WE HAD SEVERAL LAST YEAR.

I THINK THIS YEAR'S SENIOR CLASS WILL ALSO FOLLOW SUIT.

WE HAD SEVEN, I'M SORRY, CISD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ATHLETES PARTICIPATE IN THE NATIONAL SIGNING DAY AT THE CHS

ARENA. LIKE I SAID LAST WEEK, THESE YOUNG WOMEN AND THIS YOUNG MAN HAVE DEVOTED COUNTLESS HOURS OF TRAINING AND PERFECTING THEIR CRAFT.

THEY ARE AMONG THE 7% OF HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES IN THE COUNTRY WHO ADVANCED TO ATHLETICS AT THE COLLEGIATE LEVEL.

AND SO ALL OF THEIR PHOTOS AND WHERE THEY'RE GOING AND THEIR NAMES ARE ON THE SCREEN IN FRONT OF YOU.

VERY PROUD OF OUR STUDENT ATHLETES.

THANK YOU TO COACH POWELL AND DR.

LONG AND EVERYBODY IN THAT ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT FOR MAKING THIS EVENT SO SPECIAL.

AND CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR OUTSTANDING SENIOR ATHLETES THAT ARE GOING TO BE PARTICIPATING IN ATHLETICS AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL.

AND THEN ALSO, AGAIN, LOOKING AT REDEFINING SUCCESS, WE HAD OUR UIL ELEMENTARY ACADEMICS ON NOVEMBER THE 4TH, AND I HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF PRESENTING THE AWARD TO MOCKINGBIRD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS.

THEY GOT THE TROPHY AS THE WINNER FOR ELEMENTARY UIL ACADEMICS THAT WAS HELD AT PINKERTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, ALSO PLACING WHERE COTTONWOOD CREEK AND PINKERTON.

ALL THE SCHOOLS HAD TEAMS THEY WERE ABLE TO COMPETE AND LEARN AND GROW IN THE ACADEMIC COMPETITION HAD A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF PARENT VOLUNTEERS.

SO THANK YOU TO OUR PARENTS FOR HELPING.

I WANT TO THANK ALL OF OUR PARENT VOLUNTEERS, OUR COACHES, AND ESPECIALLY OUR STUDENTS FOR EVERYTHING THEY DID TO HELP MAKE THE UIL ELEMENTARY ACADEMIC EVENT SO SPECIAL.

AND THEN I WANT TO TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO ACKNOWLEDGE OUR WONDERFUL THINGS THAT WERE GOING ON THIS PAST WEEK WITH VETERANS DAY.

VETERANS DAY WAS CELEBRATED FOR US ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER THE 10TH.

IT WAS ACTUALLY NOVEMBER THE 11TH.

AND THERE ARE JUST GREAT WAYS TO HIGHLIGHT OUR CORE VALUE OF AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS.

YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURES, THERE WERE SO MANY GREAT THINGS THAT OUR CAMPUSES WERE ABLE TO DO TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR VETERANS FELT RECOGNIZED, VALUED, AND IMPORTANT.

IT'S ONE OF MY FAVORITE TRADITIONS IN CISD.

EACH OF OUR CAMPUSES HONORS AND CELEBRATES OUR VETERANS IN A VERY UNIQUE AND SPECIAL WAY.

MANY OF THE VETERANS ARE ACTUALLY EMPLOYEES OF OUR DISTRICT, BUT ALSO SOME ARE GRANDPARENTS, AUNTS, UNCLES, MOTHERS AND FATHERS, FAMILY, FRIENDS, YOU NAME IT.

ONE OF THE EVENTS THAT WAS A REAL HIGHLIGHT FOR ME WAS AT VICTORY PLACE AT COPPELL.

THEY HAD A CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT, STAFF SERGEANT SALVADOR GIUNTA.

I KNOW THAT MS. WALKER AND MR. HILL AND MS. BENTLEY WERE THERE ALSO.

HE WAS REALLY, REALLY OUTSTANDING.

JUST A GREAT, GREAT SPEAKER.

THERE'S JUST A GREAT WAY FOR US TO END THE WEEK BY CELEBRATING OUR AMAZING VETERANS, AND IT WAS GREAT FOR OUR KIDS TO BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE.

WE HAD SO MANY OF OUR BAND KIDS PLAYING TAPS ALL OVER THE DISTRICT.

WE HAD BOY SCOUTS HELPING TO RAISE THE FLAGS.

IT JUST WAS A REALLY, REALLY GREAT COMMUNITY EVENT.

AND I JUST WANT TO AGAIN THANK ALL OF OUR VETERANS FOR THEIR SERVICE AND ESPECIALLY ANY OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS THAT ALSO SERVED.

WE APPRECIATE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE FOR OUR DISTRICT AND OUR COUNTRY.

A TALENTED ELEMENTARY STUDENT ARTIST FROM WINNING A STATEWIDE ART CONTEST, OUR COPPELL VARSITY BAND FOR PLACING IN TOP TEN AT STATE AND OUR COPPELL HIGH SCHOOL

A HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER, SENIOR HENRY HENSEY AND HS NINE STUDENT MYA EASTERWOOD.

BOTH BLAZED A TRAIL AT OUR RECENT STATE CROSS COUNTRY MEET HELD IN ROUND ROCK.

NOT ONLY DID BOTH OF THESE RUNNERS QUALIFY FOR THE STATE MEET, BUT EACH HAD TOP FINISHES, WITH MYA PLACING 18TH AND HENRY PLACING 68TH AT STATE.

THESE RUNNERS WENT THE DISTANCE THROUGHOUT THE CROSS COUNTRY FALL SEASON AND QUALIFIED FOR STATE AFTER SUCCESS AT THE REGIONAL AND DISTRICT MEETS.

OUR VERY OWN VARSITY BOYS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM CLINCHED THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE DISTRICT SIX A TITLE THIS SEASON, WITH HENRY LEADING THE PACK AS THE SIX SIX, A BOYS DISTRICT CHAMPION OVER THE HALF OF THE SISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

I WANT TO SHARE HOW PROUD I AM, HOW WE ALL ARE OF BOTH MYA HENRY, OUR CROSS COUNTRY AND OUR CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS AND THANK THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND ALL OF THEIR SUCCESSES.

WE EXTEND OUR HEARTFELT CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THEM.

IN A COLORFUL TRIUMPH, AHIRI CLAIMED THE TOP SPOT IN HER GRADE LEVEL AND WAS THE OVERALL GRAND PRIZE WINNER OF THE TRINITY RIVER AUTHORITY'S 2023 ART CONTEST, A MASTERPIECE OF ACHIEVEMENT.

THIS YEAR, THE TRINITY RIVER AUTHORITY HAD A RECORD BREAKING 1941 ENTRIES FROM NINE COUNTIES.

WOW. THAT'S A LOT OF COMPETITION AND IT TRULY IS A TESTAMENT.

EXCUSE ME. IT TRULY IS A TESTAMENT TO AHIRI BOUNDLESS CREATIVITY, HER HARD WORK, AND HER ARTISTIC ABILITY.

AS A FIRST PLACE WINNER, SHE RECEIVED ART APRONS AND COLORED PENCILS ALONGSIDE A CERTIFICATE, GREETING CARDS AND A CUSTOMIZED CALENDAR ADORNED WITH HER SPLENDID ARTWORK.

UNDER THE INCREDIBLE LEADERSHIP OF BAND DIRECTOR KIM SHUTTLESWORTH, THE COPPELL VARSITY BAND HAD THEIR THIRD CONSECUTIVE TOP TEN STATE FINISH, PLACING EIGHTH IN THE STATE.

AGAIN, I HAD THE PLEASURE OF BEING DOWN THERE TO TUNE IN WITH THEM ALL.

THEY WERE AMAZING.

I WAS VERY, VERY PROUD OF THEM.

IT WAS A NOTEWORTHY PERFORMANCE.

OUR BAND PROGRAM HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN HAVING SUCH A GREAT SUCCESS IN PERFORMANCES OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS.

THE COPPELL BAND WON THE AREA COMPETITION FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR, WHICH IS THE FIRST IN PROGRAM HISTORY AND IT IS THE CREDIT FOR THIS AND THE TOP TEN STATE ACHIEVEMENT GOES TO THE HARD WORKING BAND STUDENTS.

THEY ARE AMAZING, THE INCREDIBLE STAFF LEADERSHIP AND OF COURSE OUR EQUALLY AMAZING PARENT VOLUNTEERS.

THEY WERE HAULING THINGS HERE AND THERE DRIVING THE TRUCKS.

OUR PARENTS WERE OUTSTANDING.

EVERYBODY THAT PARTICIPATED HIT ALL THE HIGH NOTES AND I CANNOT THANK THEM ENOUGH.

SO CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION, HUMAN TRAFFICKING PREVENTION, DATING VIOLENCE PREVENTION, DRUG PREVENTION WAS ALL PROVIDED IN THE REGISTRATION PACKET AND PARENTS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO OPT IN AND OUT AT THAT TIME.

WE ARE VERY EXCITED.

SO T CHAT IS A PARTNERSHIP THAT WE HAVE WITH CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, AND THEY PROVIDE FREE COUNSELING SERVICES FOR LEARNERS WHOSE FAMILIES MAYBE THEY DON'T HAVE INSURANCE AND CAN'T AFFORD IT.

I HAVE A LEARNER TODAY THAT I WAS WORKING WITH A CAMPUS.

MOM AND DAD OWNED THEIR OWN COMPANY AND DO A LOT OF TRAVELING, AND SO THEY JUST DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO TAKE THE LEARNER TO A THERAPY SESSION.

SO IT PROVIDES KIND OF THAT GAP SERVICE.

LAST YEAR IT WAS GRADES SIX THROUGH 12.

THE LEARNERS DO IT ON CAMPUS UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A CHILDREN'S MEDICAL CENTER.

AND OUR COUNSELING STAFF, THEY PARTNER TOGETHER INCREDIBLY, BUT THEY'VE EXPANDED IT TO K THROUGH 12.

NOW THEY UNDERSTAND THAT, YOU KNOW, SOME FIRST GRADERS CAN HANDLE THIS.

SOME EIGHTH GRADERS CAN'T.

SO IT'S REALLY JUST LEARNER DEPENDENT ON HOW WE GET THE SERVICES.

AND WE WERE VERY EXCITED.

THIS YEAR WE HAVE A NEW SPECIAL EDUCATION COUNSELOR TO REALLY DO SOME INTENSIVE WORK WITH THOSE LEARNERS WHO ARE SERVED BY THE SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM TO PROVIDE THE SUPPORTS THEY NEED.

THEY'RE EMBEDDED TO MORNING MEETINGS AND HIGH SCHOOLS WORKING ON EMBEDDING THEM.

NOW THAT THAT THIRD PERIOD HAS THOSE EXTRA MINUTES, THEY'RE WORKING ON EMBEDDING IT THERE.

SO IT'S REALLY EXCITING TO SEE ALL THOSE THINGS HAPPENING.

AND A FREQUENT THING WE GET FROM THE PANORAMA SURVEY IS STAFF SUPPORT.

LIKE THEY'RE OVER, YOU KNOW, OVER EVERYTHING.

THEY JUST IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS HAD A STAFF WELLNESS SUPPORT DAY, SO STAFF HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME INTO THE ROOM.

THEY LED THEM THROUGH A BREATHING EXERCISE JUST TO KIND OF CALM AND RESET THEM IN THE MIDDLE PICTURE.

THOSE ARE ACTUALLY MODELING CLAY WITH ESSENTIAL OILS THAT YOU CAN JUST KIND OF PLAY WITH THE PUTTY AND GET THE ESSENTIAL OILS.

BUT THE MISSING PIECE HE FOUND WAS THE PEER TO PEER SUPPORT.

SO HOPE SQUAD HAS AT NINE AND THEY ARE AT NEW TECH THIS YEAR AND WE'RE HOPING TO EXPAND.

THEY HAVE A K 12 PROGRAM.

SO WE'RE HOPING TO GO BOTH WAYS WITH THIS.

THEY JUST HAD A CONFERENCE IN DALLAS SPONSORED BY THE GRANT HALLIBURTON FOUNDATION.

AND SOME GENEROUS DONOR TO GRANT.

HALLIBURTON PAID FOR ALL OF OUR KIDDOS TO GO, WHICH WAS AMAZING.

AND WHAT THEY LEARN IS THEY'RE NOT COUNSELORS, THEY'RE NOT DOING THERAPY, THEY'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING LIKE THAT, BUT THEY'RE LEARNING THE SIGNS OF SOMEBODY MIGHT BE STRUGGLING BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THE KIDS ARE TALKING TO EACH OTHER, AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T TALK TO THE GROWNUPS.

AND SO THEY LEARN TO LOOK FOR THOSE SIGNS AND HOW TO CONNECT THEM WITH THE ADULTS THAT THEY NEED TO GET THOSE KIDS THE HELP THEY NEED.

SO IT'S REALLY AN EXCITING PROGRAM.

WE DO KNOW, THOUGH, BASED ON OUR DEMOGRAPHERS REPORT, THAT THE DISTRICT ENROLLMENT HAS PEAKED AND WILL SLIGHTLY DECLINE.

THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL FUNDING THAT WE KNOW OF.

AND THAT MEANS THAT IF THE STATE FUNDING STAYS THE SAME AS IT IS TODAY, CURRENT STATE FUNDING WILL DECLINE BY ABOUT A HALF $1 MILLION PER YEAR BASED UPON THOSE DEMOGRAPHERS ENROLLMENT REPORTS.

WE DO KNOW OUR ELEMENTARY ENROLLMENT IS DECLINING, AND THAT WHERE WE'RE GOING TO SEE SOME STABILIZATION IS IN OUR SECONDARY SCHOOLS. SO WE ASK THE BOARD, AT THIS POINT IN TIME, WHAT FEEDBACK OR DIRECTION YOU WOULD GIVE US AS WE PREPARE FOR THE BUDGET PLANNING PROCESS.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO COMMENT THAT I THOUGHT KIM CASTON DID AN AMAZING JOB FACILITATING THAT, AND I REALLY LIKED THE CONNECTION TO OUR PREVIOUS TEAM OF EIGHT.

IT DID FEEL CONNECTED AND NOT INDIVIDUAL, SO I REALLY FEEL LIKE IT'S BUILDING.

SO I WOULD JUST URGE THAT WE CONTINUE TO BUILD ON THE EXISTING WORK THAT WE HAVE.

I THINK WE COULD HAVE STAYED FOR ANOTHER 4 OR 5 HOURS.

IT WAS VERY EXTREME, IT WAS VERY PRODUCTIVE AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS IT WAS COLLABORATIVE AND ALL THOSE THINGS, YOU KNOW, WITH OUR STRATEGIC DESIGN PROCESS OCCURRING RIGHT NOW, I DON'T REALLY, I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING TOP OF MIND THAT I WANT TO SEE DIFFERENT FROM THAT, OTHER THAN JUST SUPPORT AND BE ENGAGED IN THAT PROCESS.

BECAUSE MY FIRST TIME ATTENDING THE TEAM OF EIGHT TRAINING, AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

WE'RE REVISITING THE BUDGET PROCESS, THE TIMING OF EVERYTHING, US HAVING TO HAVE NEW GOALS IN TO, TO BY AUGUST.

YOU KNOW, TO ME IT SEEMS LIKE SPRING WOULD BE A GOOD OR AFTER THE WINTER BREAK WOULD BE A GOOD OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO TRY TO SOLIDIFY SOME OF THE CONCEPTS THAT WE TALKED ABOUT

I YOU KNOW, YOU GUYS ARE READING THE EMAILS THAT WE'RE GETTING, BUT FOR THE PUBLIC, WE ARE KIND OF IN A POLITICAL A LEGAL BACK AND FORTH WITH COMMISSIONER MORATH RIGHT NOW.

AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE COUNT IS.

I DID NOT STOP, BUT I THINK IT WAS TWO PAGES OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS THAT ARE INVOLVED IN THIS LAWSUIT.

AND, YOU KNOW, IT TOOK ME BACK TO WHAT WE WERE DISCUSSING DURING SEAL ABOUT THE SAFE PLACES, KNOWING WHAT THEIR RULES ARE AND HOW WE'RE GOING TO OPERATE WITHIN THE RULES.

SO THAT'S JUST IN PROCESS, I THINK IS REALLY THE UPDATE FOR THE COMMUNITY ON THAT.

WHAT THE BUSINESSES IN OUR COMMUNITY AND OUTSIDE OUR COMMUNITY THINK IS USEFUL IN A FUTURE WORKFORCE, AND HOW DO WE PREPARE OUR STUDENTS NOW IN THE CONTEXT OF STRATEGIC PLANNING AND THE DECISIONS THAT WE'RE MAKING? SO THAT WAS THE BULK OF IT.

YES. SO THE DEIC THAT IS THE DISTRICT EDUCATION IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING OF OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT WAS CALLED TO ORDER ON OCTOBER 24TH AT 4:30 BY DR.

BROOKS. APPROXIMATELY 50 MEMBERS ATTENDED THE MEETING, INCLUDING EDUCATORS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND TWO BOARD MEMBERS.

THAT IS MR. HILL AND MYSELF.

UM DR. BROOKS WELCOMED EVERYONE AND EXPLAINED WHY THE COMMITTEE EXISTS AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT.

COPPELL ISD UTILIZES A COLLABORATIVE PLANNING PROCESS, INCLUDING COMMUNITY AND STAFF INPUT, TO DEVELOP THE DISTRICT'S EDUCATION PLAN.

DISTRICT AND CAMPUS PLANS ARE DEVELOPED ANNUALLY TO BE MUTUALLY SUPPORTIVE OF THE STATE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES UNDER EDUCATION CODE.

SHE ALSO EXPLAINED THE EXPECTATIONS THAT COME WITH BEING PART OF THE COMMITTEE, WHICH INCLUDE TAKING THE INFORMATION LEARNED TO THE RESPECTIVE CAMPUSES AND DEPARTMENTS.

THE NEXT AGENDA WAS APPOINTMENT OF THE CO-CHAIR.

THE COMMITTEE RECEIVED TWO NOMINATIONS AND THE MAJORITY VOTED FOR CHRISTOPHER ARNEY, THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS AND READING TEACHER TO SERVE AS THE CO-CHAIR FOR THE YEAR 2023-24.

AFTER THAT, MISS ROBIN WEBB PRESENTED AND GAVE INFORMATION AND UPDATES REGARDING THE ESSER FUNDS.

AFTER HER PRESENTATION, SHE WELCOMED QUESTIONS.

THE FIRST QUESTION WAS SINCE HEPA AIR PURIFIER AND FILTERS WERE BOUGHT WITH THIS FUND, ARE WE PLANNING ON PURCHASING REPLACEMENT FILTERS WITH SOME OF THE LEFTOVER MONEY? AND SHE SAID THE PURCHASING OF FILTERS WAS MOVED TO A DIFFERENT COVID FUND THAT WAS AWARDED LATER, AND THOSE FUNDS WERE USED TO PURCHASE REPLACEMENTS.
